Scholarships
At VGCC, we value our students’ academic success. That is why we not only offer scholarships from generous donors to our VGCC Foundation , but also from sources outside of the College who want to see our students succeed as well.
There are a couple of things that you should know before applying for a scholarship.
- Scholarships are considered gift aid or “free money.” However, they are still a type of financial aid and must be reported to the Financial Aid Office . That isn’t a bad thing, as the Financial Aid Office will apply the scholarship to your tuition and fees. If you are receiving a private student loan (money you have to pay back), your loan amount may be adjusted to make room for this free money.
- You must apply for scholarships . You will not be awarded them automatically at VGCC. Endowment scholarships require that you already be admitted to VGCC and that a username and password has been assigned to you in order to access the application.
