Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF)
The Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund II (HEERF II) is authorized by the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2021 (CRRSAA), Public Law 116-260, signed into law on Dec. 27, 2020. In total, the CRRSAA authorizes $81.88 billion in support for education, in addition to the $30.75 billion expeditiously provided last spring through the Coronavirus Aid, Recovery, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, Public Law 116-136.
HEERF provides up to $750 in financial assistance to eligible continuing education students pursuing in-demand workforce training courses in designated workforce pathways that lead to a State or industry recognized credential.
Students must be enrolled in a Continuing Education program that is 96 hours or more to be eligible for financial assistance.

Governor’s Emergency Education Relief (GEER)
The Governor’s Emergency Education Relief (GEER) Scholarship Program was established to support community college impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic. GEER provides scholarships to eligible workforce continuing education students pursuing high-demand workforce training programs within ten workforce pathways leading to a State or industry-recognized credential.
The scholarship will be based on student need, local industry needs, number of eligible students, and cost of course, up to a maximum award of either $750 per course or the cost of the course fee(s) if the fee(s) exceed $750. The scholarships help cover the cost of tuition, fees, books, supplies, credentialing tests, transportation, childcare and other components of the total cost of attendance.

Departmental Grant Application
VGJC Scholars Program
The VGJC Scholars program can help new students complete training in Automotive Systems, Biowork, CDL/Truck Driver Training, Electrical Systems, Heavy Equipment Operator, HVAC, Information Technology, Medical Assisting, Office Administration, Paralegal Technology, Pharmacy Technology, or Welding.
Students who are between the ages of 16-24, have a high school diploma or a GED, and meet certain eligibility requirements can receive a full scholarship for training in one of those programs, as well as job placement support, technology support, transportation assistance, certification exam assistance, and academic/success coaching.
