The Law Enforcement Training program at VGCC is designed to provide Sworn Law Enforcement Officers, Detention Officers, Telecommunicators and Corrections Officers with the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills based on new and existing technology. Programs are open to all Law Enforcement Agencies in the area. A broad range of Mandated and Specialty classes, based on both agency needs and new training standards, are offered during the year on the college campus and at various agency locations.

Attendance:

Students who arrive late or leave early will not receive full credit for the training course.100% attendance is required in all training courses. Attendees must bring any issued equipment needed for the course on the day it is to be utilized.

Cost:

The cost for in-service training courses is FREE for certified officers affiliated with a public North Carolina Agency, otherwise you will be required to pay the designated registration fee.

Restrictions:

Enrollment in these courses is restricted to Law Enforcement Officers and Criminal Justice Professionals.

Dress Code:

The dress code is business casual unless course participation requires other specific attire. T-shirts and shorts are not allowed. If you wear your service weapon to training at VGCC you must display your badge also

Cancellation Policy:

A course may be canceled if fewer than 10 students are enrolled. Every effort will be made to provide sufficient notice to the student should the need to cancel a course arise.

Basic Patrol Rifle

When: May 18th & 19th, 2022; 8pm – 5 pm
Where: 1770 Seven Paths Rd., Louisburg, NC 27549

Required Items:

Ear & Eye Protection
Baseball/brimmed hat
Weather appropriate clothing (rain or sum)
Ballistic Vest
Lunch, drinks and snacks
Comfortable closed toe footwear
Duty appropriate flashlight
Handgun, belt and holster with magazine pouches
Magazine – (2 rifle and 2 handguns)

Optional:

Sunscreen (Open range has little shelter)
Ground cover (Yoga mat for prone shooting)
Backup flashlight
Riffle Bipod or shooting bags

(1) Refund Policy: Students will be eligible for a 100-percent refund if official withdrawal occurs prior to the first class meeting or the class is cancelled. After the course begins, a 75-percent refund can be made if the student officially withdraws prior to or on the 10-percent point of the scheduled hours. For contact-hour classes, five calendar days from the first day of class is the determination date. For self-supporting classes, no refund will be made unless the class is cancelled. (2) Repeat Policy: Students who take an Occupational Extension course more than twice within a five-year period shall pay their cost for the course based on the amount of funds generated by a student membership hour for Occupational Extension multiplied by the number of actual hours the class is to be taught. Students may repeat Occupational Extension courses if the repetitions are required for certification, licensure, or recertification. (3) Grading Policy: In order to receive a satisfactory (S) grade, students must be present for at least 80-percent of the class hours scheduled. Students signature on this form gives permission for VGCC to release his/her grade to the appropriate certification agency, employer or prospective employer, when applicable. We also have grants and scholarships students can apply for by choosing them in the payment options and you will receive more information on how to apply for those grants and scholarship through a returned email.
