VGCC to host free Presentation on College Student Success

Vance-Granville Community College will host “Monster College Advantage,” a free presentation for first-year college students on being successful in class and in finding a job, on Thursday, July 15 at 6 p.m. and on Thursday, Aug. 5 at 6 p.m. Both presentations, which last approximately one hour, will be held at the Civic Center on VGCC’s main campus in Vance County. Each will follow VGCC’s orientation sessions for new students in curriculum programs, which begin at 5 p.m. Another orientation session will be held at the same location on Aug. 13 at 9 a.m.

Monster College Advantage” provides first-year college students with important information on how to “own” their college experience and be successful, both in and out of the classroom. This interactive presentation emphasizes the importance of goal-setting, time management and strong academic performance. Students will also learn about how to maximize their future career opportunities. “In this difficult economy, it’s more important than ever that students understand what they need to do to succeed in an ultra-competitive job market,” said J.R. Cifani, vice president of Making it Count, which developed the presentation for Monster Worldwide. “We are providing students with the information they need to make the most of their college experience to get a great career when they graduate.”
