VGCC to hold seminar for Agricultural Entrepreneurs in Warrenton

The Vance-Granville Community College Small Business Center has scheduled a free seminar, entitled “Ag Entrepreneurship 101,” on Tuesday, June 23, from 6 until 8 p.m., at the college’s Warren County Campus in Warrenton.

The instructor will be Carrie Harvey, the owner and operator of Harvey Hills Farms in Granville County.

Harvey will use her personal experience with farming to help budding entrepreneurs discover if their agricultural business ideas are actual opportunities. She will also help them determine if their sites will support such ventures. In this introductory seminar, attendees will discuss how a business becomes viable and what resources are available to assist them in making their economic decisions.

This free seminar is one of several initiatives by the VGCC Small Business Center to help local agricultural businesses succeed. The college began a seven-week “NC REAL Agricultural Entrepreneurship” program in 2014 , for which Carrie Harvey has also served as an instructor. In addition, a week-long NC REAL Agricultural Entrepreneurship Youth Camp is being held at VGCC’s Warren County Campus this month.
