VGCC revs up Motorcycle Safety program

Vance-Granville Community College’s new Motorcycle Safety program will begin soon, with classes offered on three different weekends at the college’s main campus in Vance County.

The 22-hour motorcycle safety course will be offered over three consecutive days (Friday through Sunday): Nov. 30 – Dec. 2, Dec. 7 – 9 or Dec. 14 – 16. Each course begins on Friday from 6 until 10 p.m. and continues from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday, with breaks for lunch.

This safety course can be beneficial to people who have never driven a motorcycle or for experienced riders who just want to learn more skills. Motorcycle operators will be able to get a discount on insurance rates upon successful completion of the program.

The college will supply motorcycles for class use. Students should wear riding gloves, as well as footwear that covers the ankles, such as boots. Students are also encouraged to bring their own helmets, since a limited number of helmets will be available.

The cost of the course is $125.
