VGCC offers ServSafe course

ServSafe, the 16-hour food safety certification course, will soon be offered by Vance-Granville Community College’s Small Business Center in cooperation with area health departments. Participants will meet on two days, Wednesday, April 11 and Wednesday, April 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in room 7107 of Building 7 on the college’s Main Campus in Vance County.

Peter Lambert of Oxford will serve as the instructor for the course, which is designed for food service managers and supervisory staff in restaurants, hospitals, nursing homes, child care facilities and other food service establishments.

ServSafe was developed by the Education Foundation of the National Restaurant Association, which provides certification to all who successfully complete the course and the written examination. The state of North Carolina awards two points on quarterly restaurant inspections for completion of ServSafe.

The cost of the course is $65, plus the cost of the textbook and a $3 Campus Security/Access Fee.
