VGCC Offers Medication Aide Course at South Campus

Vance-Granville Community College will soon offer a course at its South Campus that allows local residents to qualify as a Medication Aide.

Classes will be held on the campus, located on N.C. 56 between Creedmoor and Butner, on Mondays and Wednesdays, May 27 through June 8, from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

Sharie Kemp-Bruce is the instructor.

To register for the course, a student must have a high school diploma or GED and must be listed on the North Carolina Nurse Aide Registry as a CNA I in good standing. Students who successfully complete the course will be able to take a state exam and qualify to be listed on the North Carolina Medication Aide Registry. Medication Aides pass medications in settings such as home-health agencies and skilled nursing facilities under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

The cost for this course is $55, plus $9 for a textbook.
