VGCC Offers Basic Computer, Employability Training At Franklin Campus For Unemployed

Classes will begin May 28 at Vance-Granville Community College’s Franklin County Campus to prepare participants for employment and to teach them basic computer skills.

Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, May 28-June 27. Introduction to Computer Skills will run from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, and Employability Training will go from 12:30 to 2 p.m.

The computer class will introduce students to computers and computer terms, develop a moderate level of computer skills, and introduce students to using the Internet, e-mail and search engines.

Employability Training provides skills for unemployed and underemployed adults. It teaches them how to ready themselves to get jobs and how to retain those jobs once acquired. The skills learned in this class will also help persons advance in their career fields.

Unemployed and underemployed persons may qualify to attend the classes at no cost. For more information and to register for the classes, call Dorothy Williams, VGCC director of Human Resources Development, at (252) 738-3276.
