VGCC offers advanced Biotech training
Vance-Granville Community College will offer a new advanced biotechnology training program on its Franklin County Campus in Louisburg, starting in April.
“Bioprocessing in the Workplace,” a 64-hour course, will be held on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Classes will start on April 14 and end on June 4.
The course was developed by the NC BioNetwork for the North Carolina Community College System. It is designed for students who have successfully completed VGCC’s BioWork course or are currently employed in the Bioprocessing/pharmaceutical industry.
“The Bioprocessing in the Workplace course will enhance the student’s knowledge and training in basic biotechnology concepts through challenging lecture modules, as well as hands-on experience in a laboratory,” said VGCC Bioprocess Technology coordinator/instructor Julie Kinlaw. “Completion of the course will strengthen each student’s skills and increase their marketability within the biotech industry.” This course can also help students review for the state Bioprocess Technician exam, which will be given on June 13.
Registration and fees for the class are $67.30, plus $40 for the textbook.
