VGCC Loses First Basketball Game of Season

The Vance-Granville Community College Vanguards men’s basketball team suffered its first loss, 112-87, Jan. 9 at Davidson County Community College in Lexington.

VGCC (7-1) now has a 1-1 regular-season record versus the DCCC Storm. The Vanguards defeated the Storm, 101-93, when DCCC paid a visit to Henderson in December.

Jayson Brown of Raleigh led Vance-Granville with 25 points, while Henderson resident E.J. Henderson had 14, John Holley of Raleigh, 11, and Jeremy Lenoir of Raleigh, 10.

The team returns home on Feb. 8 to play the Louisburg College junior varsity squad at Western Vance High School at 7 p.m. There is no charge for admission to VGCC home games.
