VGCC Instructor invites Public to Learn about Dreams

Peter Metzner, a Psychology instructor at Vance-Granville Community College, will offer a special seminar, called “A Dream Circle,” on Thursday, April 22 from 4 p.m. until 5 p.m. in room 6102 on the college’s main campus in Vance County. The free seminar is open to the public, in addition to VGCC students, faculty and staff.

Metzner (pictured above) will examine questions like “What do dreams tell us?” and “Why should we pay attention to our dreams?” He will also discuss the history of dreams, take questions from the audience and consider some real examples of dreams.

“The psychologist Carl Jung said that ‘In our sleep, we awaken to who we really are’,” Metzner noted. “Dreams reveal areas of our lives that need attention, showing us where adaptation and growth need to take place. Much like the reins of a horse, they correct us when we go off track.”

Peter Metzner, MA, MPA, CLC, has taught Psychology at VGCC since 2002. He has researched and studied dreams with the Journey through Wholeness, Triangle Jung Society, Robert Johnson, Barry Williams, Jeremy Taylor, John Ryan Haule and others. He has written articles on leadership and dream work and has given keynote presentations and workshops on dreams to organizations such as the National Wellness Institute, Center for Creative Leadership, and the North Carolina Association of Business Coaches. Metzner has also facilitated classes on dreams for the Institute for Life Coach Training.
