VGCC Human Resources Development Opens Doors to Health Occupations

Vance-Granville Community College’s Human Resources Development (HRD) Department will offer a seven-week course to assist students in preparing for jobs in the health care field, including Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) positions.Beginning May 29, the class will be held in Building 7 of the college’s Main Campus in Vance County, from 9 a.m. until noon. Classes will be held Tuesday through Thursday of the first week, and Monday through Thursday for each of the subsequent weeks, through July 12. Classes will not be held on July 4.“If you are interested in a career in a medical field, this class will help to give you direction,” said Kyle Burwell, HRD coordinator for VGCC.HRD classes are designed to help the unemployed and the underemployed with career planning, including job-seeking and job-keeping skills.The subject matter for this course will include information and training in areas such as interviewing skills, resumes, job applications, study skills, computer skills, stress management, health care educational opportunities at VGCC and employment opportunities in the health care field.HRD classes are free to unemployed, underemployed and dislocated workers, but Burwell noted that space in the class will be limited.
