VGCC hosts session on contracting with N.C. Department of Transportation

The Vance-Granville Community College Small Business Center will host a free information session to help area residents learn about Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) certification with the (NC DOT).

The program is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 12, from 2 until 4 p.m., in room 7109 (Building 7) on VGCC’s Main Campus in Vance County .

NC DOT staff members will be there to answer questions and accept applications to become a DBE, and a notary public will also be available to notarize documents.

DBE certification is a process that helps small businesses owned and controlled by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals, including minorities and women, participate in contracting opportunities created by federally-funded or assisted projects.

Various supporting documents are needed to complete an application to be considered as a DBE. A full application and checklist will be sent to each participant at the time of registration to help them be prepared for this event.
