VGCC Honors Graduates of CNA Programs

Vance-Granville Community College honored 52 graduates of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) I and CNA II programs with a graduation and pinning ceremony on June 5. The ceremony included class speakers from each of the four classes, as well as a candle-lighting ceremony to honor a nursing tradition of “passing the torch.” Each graduate received a pin and a certificate of completion. Upon successful completion of the North Carolina CNA competency exam, these students are eligible to work as Certified Nursing Assistants in a variety of health care settings, such as hospitals, nursing homes and home health agencies.

Graduates of the CNA I program included students from the Kittrell Job Corps Center: Kenneth Bailey, William Browning, Billie Jo Caley, Alexis Cox, Elena Dew, Crystal McDavid, Stephanie McDonald, Vaneshia Parker, Iricka Person, Octavia Smith, Raiesha Richardson, Chakia Simpson, Monique Stinson and Lydia Wright, all residing in Kittrell.

Graduates of the CNA I day class, held on the college’s main campus, included: Jessica Allgood, Fannie Branch, Constance Cheek, Rita Hipkins, Petrina Perry, Vanessa Strickland, Annie Taylor, Mammie Taylor, all of Henderson; Katherine Black, Katrice Hester, Desiree Taborn, Luis Velez, all of Oxford; Lakendra Brown of Louisburg, Jevonia Hargrove of Manson and Temedra Keel of Kittrell.

Graduates of the CNA I evening class included: Brandy Clark, Joan Davis, Beverly Fields, Cortney Hargrove, Meka Hayes, Betty Haywood, Tracey Jones, Lynn Pegram, Patsy Stanton, Loretta Terry, all of Henderson; Marquette Cozart, Barbara Hunter, Kinshasha Parks, Darnecia Towler, all of Oxford; Evelyn Neal and Dianne Wilkerson, both of Kittrell; Elizabeth Dauphinais of Creedmoor and Marquesha Williams of Durham.

Graduates of the CNA II class were Bobbie Hargrove, Carolyn Owens and Jessica Whitfield, all of Oxford; Sherrell Perry of Henderson and Doretta Womack of Durham.
