VGCC holds Banquet honoring Student-Athletes

Vance-Granville Community College celebrated Vanguard student-athletes at its annual Athletics Banquet, held on April 23 in the Civic Center on the college’s Main Campus. VGCC Director of Student Activities and Athletics Jasmine Hightower served as mistress of ceremonies.

In welcoming remarks, Dr. Stelfanie Williams, the president of VGCC, congratulated the student-athletes and thanked their family members for their support. She said that the banquet recognized not only athletic ability but also academic achievement. “I’ve been pleased with how well you all balance study and sports, with some of you making the Dean’s List and some graduating this semester,” the president said. “The lessons you learn as student-athletes about teamwork and continuous improvement will serve you well through your entire lives.”
