VGCC Golf team competes in Louisburg tournament

The Vance-Granville Community College men’s golf team continued its 2010 season on the road by participating in a tournament March 19 at The River Golf Course in Louisburg.

With a team score of 383, VGCC finished seventh in the tournament, in which some colleges fielded more than one team. First place went to a team from the University of Massachusetts Lowell, which posted a team score of 315. Host Louisburg College came in second with 320, with Johnston Community College close behind at 322. Other schools participating included Erie Community College of Buffalo, N.Y., Surry Community College and St. Andrews Presbyterian College of Laurinburg.

Two Vanguards, Tommy Overcash and Jeremy Radford, both of Henderson, tied for the best score on their team, with 94. Others participating for VGCC included Daniel Schmoyer of Franklinton, Michael Reese of Henderson and Chris Dove of Wake Forest.
