VGCC Franklin Campus Offers Substitute Teaching Course

Vance-Granville Community College is offering a course to train anyone interested in becoming a substitute teacher. Classes will be held at the Franklin County Campus, located on N.C. 56 about one mile west of Louisburg, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m., starting Jan. 29 and continuing through Feb. 28.

“If you enjoy working with youth or if you have ever thought about pursuing a rewarding career as a teacher, this popular course will help you to take a step in that direction,” said Franklin Campus director Anthony Pope. This course will feature guest speakers and classroom observation, as well as instruction on classroom management and school procedures. The course will be taught by Jackie McNamara, an experienced VGCC instructor. “Remember, the children are our future,” Pope said. “Do your part to positively impact their lives now.”

The cost of the course is $55.
