VGCC Franklin Campus offers Cultural Relations Training

Vance-Granville Community College has scheduled a course that helps professionals to understand issues of cultural difference. “Community Cultural Relations & Sensitivity Training” will be held on Wednesdays, Feb. 13 through April 16, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. in room F-5119 on the Franklin County Campus, located on N.C. 56 about one mile west of Louisburg.

“This class is for anyone who wants to understand sensitive issues that are relevant to your community, workplace or school,” said Franklin Campus director Anthony Pope. “We have many differences that make us unique, but may often be misunderstood by someone of a different race, religion, sex or nationality. This interactive class will allow you the opportunity to explore and discuss issues that you always wanted to know about but never asked.”

Greg Hughes will be the instructor for the course. “Hughes is an energetic and very knowledgeable instructor who will challenge you to explore and open your minds about people who are different from you,” Pope said. This class is highly recommended for people who work in the public sector, especially social workers, law enforcement officers, teachers or community leaders.

The cost of the class will be $55.
