VGCC Franklin Campus Offerings include Cake Decorating, Sign Language and Typing

Vance-Granville Community College’s Franklin County Campus will offer several classes for the general public to learn new skills and hobbies, starting in June.

“Intermediate Cake Decorating & Pastry Art” will begin on June 5 and continue through July 31 on Thursdays from 6 until 9 p.m. Students will meet in room F5109 on the Franklin campus, which is located on N.C. 56 about one mile west of Louisburg. The class is taught by Chef George Blow, an honors graduate of the Pennsylvania Culinary Institute, where he specialized in Pastry Art.

Starting June 9, a Sign Language class for beginners will be held in room F105 on the Franklin County Campus. The class will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 until 11 a.m., through August 4. Instructor Tonya Jester will help students learn a new skill that opens up a creative way of communicating with individuals who are hearing-impaired and verbally challenged.

Finally, a Keyboarding/Beginner’s Typing course is scheduled on Mondays and Wednesdays from 1:30 until 4 p.m., June 10 through July 22. Students will meet in room F5111 with instructor Kim Howell.

The cost to register for each course is $55.
