VGCC Community Band to hold first fall rehearsal

The Vance-Granville Community Band will hold its first rehearsal for the 2010-2011 year on Monday, Aug. 23 starting at 7 p.m. in the Civic Center on VGCC’s main campus in Vance County. Anyone with an interest in participating in the band is welcome to attend.

Area musicians are invited to contribute their time and talents to the Community Band, which is a joint effort between interested citizens and students. VGCC music instructor Michael Stephenson leads the band, which rehearses on Monday evenings. Stephenson is tentatively planning for two concerts in the fall semester, including one at Louisburg College on Oct. 11, and another with a holiday theme at the Civic Center on Dec. 13.

Formed in 2008, the community band has grown to approximately 50 members, including people from all four counties of the VGCC service area (Vance, Granville, Warren and Franklin). For more information on the band, call Michael Stephenson at (252) 738-3346.
