VGCC Adds Cake Decorating Class To Continuing Education Schedule

A class to teach students to design and make cakes for special occasions will be offered at Vance-Granville Community College, beginning May 8.

The Non-Traditional Cake Decorating class will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Mondays for six weeks, beginning May 8 and ending June 12, on the main campus in Vance County.

Maria Ayala, a Granville County resident who has taught several cake decorating classes for VGCC, will be the instructor. She will cover the planning and design of cakes for occasions such as weddings and birthdays, and the tools needed for decorating and icing cakes. She will teach students how to make sugar fondant and how to create flowers, leaves, animals and other decorations.

Cost of the class is $25 to be paid at the first class. For more information and to pre-register, call the Vance-Granville Continuing Education Department at (252) 738-3316.
