Upcoming VGCC South Campus Classes Offer Computer and Job Skills

Five Vance-Granville Community College classes scheduled to begin in August at the college’s South Campus, located on N.C. 56 between Creedmoor and Butner, offer area residents the chance to learn new skills to succeed in today’s work-place.

Three courses are offered by the college’s Human Resources Development (HRD) Department. HRD classes are designed to help the unemployed and the underemployed with career planning, including job-seeking and job-keeping skills. “Career Planning/Job Search” will be offered Monday through Thursday between 9 a.m. and noon, Aug. 18 through Dec. 18. A “Job Readiness” course is scheduled for Monday through Wednesday between 9 a.m. and noon, Aug. 18 through Dec. 18. These HRD classes are free to qualified applicants, including those who are unemployed. “Basic Skills for Employment” will be available on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m., Aug. 25 through Oct. 29. The cost of the course will be $55.

Two other South Campus courses will be offered by the VGCC Computer Center. From Aug. 20 through Oct. 1, a course on using the popular QuickBooks accounting software will be held on Wednesdays from 6 until 10 p.m. The cost of the course is $55 plus fees. From Aug. 28 through Oct. 2, the “Beginner’s Guide to Computers & Internet” class will be offered on Thursday evenings from 6 until 10 p.m. The cost of the course is $55 plus fees.
