Two New Computer-Related Classes Offered on Franklin Campus

Vance-Granville Community College’s Franklin County Campus in Louisburg is offering two new classes in October that help local residents become more successful with technology. The first, “Digital Camera Know How and Photo Editing,” will be taught from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesdays, Oct. 10 through Nov. 14.

Rex Lue of Oxford, who has an extensive background in photography and computers, will teach the course. While teaching computer courses at the Adult Learning Center in Virginia Beach, Va., he recognized the growing use of digital cameras and designed the course.

Lue said he will show students what to look for when purchasing a digital camera, but he also encourages students who already own cameras to bring them to class, so that they can learn to use the camera more effectively.

If you are confused about what to do with photos that have been taken with a digital camera, Lue will teach you how to save your photos to disks, email your photos, and manipulate or edit them, using the Adobe PhotoShop Elements 4.0 computer program. He will provide handouts on all functions taught in the class. Students will need basic computer knowledge to take advantage of the course.

The cost of the digital camera class is $55, plus a $3 technology fee. Interested persons may register for the class by calling Anthony Pope at (919) 496-1567.
