Today’s Heads & Kool Kuts

Cosmetology students from Vance-Granville Community College’s four campuses and its high school program competed in styling competition April 28, and a panel of five professional hairdressers chose the three above as the top designs. Taking first place was David Harris of Southern Vance High School, seen in the center with his model Jacquetta Williams and his design, “Exotic Blossoms.” Students at VGCC’s South Campus won both second and third place. At left is second place winner Sabrina Mitchell who created “Midnight Sparkle” on Coleen Green, while at right, little Alaza Cozart wears “Precious Butterflies,” third place winner created by Lutarsh Cozart.

New this year at the Vance-Granville Community College Cosmetology competition was men’s hair cutting. Tamara Mayo, center, of Warren County Campus, took first place for the cut she gave her husband, Frankie. Second place went to Chad Gingles, left rear, of VGCC’s main campus, who trimmed Morris Walker’s hair, and Danielle Ancsanyi of Franklin County Campus took third place with the haircut and beard trim on her father, Gerry Ancsanyi, right.
