Students sign letters to play VGCC Basketball

An area high school hoops standout has signed a national letter of intent to join the 2010-2011 Vance-Granville Community College men’s basketball team, while two players from last season have also officially returned to the Vanguards.

VGCC head coach Avery Wilson announced that guard Tramaine Bagby of Bunn made his decision official on June 7. The 6’1″ Bagby played basketball at Bunn High School.

Two returning Vanguards also recently signed letters of intent confirming their desire to continue as sophomores. They are Trentin Cozart of Oxford and Derrick Knight of Bunn. Cozart was named the team’s Most Valuable Player for the 2009-2010 season and led the Vanguards in assists. Knight was the team’s “Most Improved” player last season and posted the Vanguards’ highest free-throw percentage.
