Nurse Aide II Class Offered at VGCC South Campus

Vance-Granville Community College will offer a Nurse Aide II (CNA II) course at the college’s South Campus in Granville County, April 30 through July 18.

 

Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 until 9:30 p.m. Lisa McDonough will serve as instructor for the course, which is scheduled to meet in room G120 on South Campus, located on N.C. 56 between Butner and Creedmoor.

 

To register for the course, a student must be listed on the N.C. Nurse Aide Registry (Level 1), have a high school diploma or GED, and have a recommendation from an employer. This advanced level course is designed to further the skills for the CNA I. Duties of the CNA II may include glucose monitoring, sterile procedures, IV monitoring, catheter insertion, and wound care. Topics of the course also include advanced medical math, sterile field set-up and maintenance, basic first aid, and advanced charting skills. This course includes lecture, simulated labs, and a clinical experience in an area long-term care facility and hospital. Graduates of the Nurse Aide II program may find employment at hospitals, nursing homes and home health agencies.

 

VGCC offers two levels of Nursing Assistant training as well as a Refresher course, Medication Aide training and Phlebotomy. The cost of this course is $200 plus the cost of the textbook.
