New Medical Billing & Coding course offered at VGCC Main Campus

Vance-Granville Community College is now registering students for a new continuing education course for medical billing and coding professionals. The “CPC Certification Boot Camp” will be held on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6 until 9 p.m., July 12 through Aug. 7, on the college’s Main Campus in Vance County. Marianne Durling is the instructor for this course.

This new course, which has been pre-approved by the American Academy of Professional Coders for CEU credit, is designed to prepare pre-certification students who are planning to sit for an AAPC exam. The course will include an intense overview of the skills needed to pass the Certified Professional Coder exam and mock exams to gauge the participant’s readiness. Additionally, the program is designed to meet post-certification CEU requirements by AAPC for billers and coders who are already certified and who need a refresher.

AAPC’s Certified Professional Coder credential is the gold standard for medical coding in physician office settings and is held by more than 85,000 coding professionals. Holding the CPC increases applicants’ chances of being hired and retained in a competitive job market. A Certified Professional Coder has proven by rigorous examination and experience that they know how to read a medical chart and assign the correct diagnosis, procedure and supply code for a wide variety of clinical cases and services.

In addition to this course, VGCC offers the Medical Coding certificate program , which consists of four courses: Medical Terminology; Medical Coding; Medical Insurance, Billing and Chart Abstracting; and Medical Coding Certification Exam Preparation.

The cost of this course includes a $65 registration fee and a $3 security/access fee.
