GIFT TO VGCC

Martha Thompson, left, community relations manager for Progress Energy, presents a $10,000 capacity building grant from her company to President Randy Parker, right, of Vance-Granville Community College. The gift will be used by the college for projects and programs to increase its Endowment Fund, which provides scholarships to 400 deserving students each year. On hand for the presentation, made May 17 at the VGCC Endowment Fund Golf Tournament, are John Williamson of Oxford, president of the VGCC Ambassadors, and Grace Vickery, a member of the college Board of Trustees.
