Family establishes memorial scholarship for VGCC Nurse Aide Students

The family of the late Kathryn Bentley Watson of Oxford (pictured above) — including her two daughters, Robbie W. Worley of Oxford and Karen W. Speed of Asheville, her son-in-law, Dr. James K. Speed of Asheville, and her two grandsons, Jordan C. Speed of Asheville and Brad Worley (and wife, Erin Worley) of Raleigh — recently established a new scholarship in her memory that will support students in the Nurse Aide programs at Vance-Granville Community College. Friends of Watson have also made contributions to the new fund. A native of Granville County and an advocate for education and agriculture, Watson passed away in January 2011.

Two scholarships are planned, one each for students in the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) I and II programs . For more information, call VGCC at (252) 738-3366.
