Evening Office Assistant Computer Class Added To VGCC South Campus Schedule

The Vance-Granville Community College Computer Center will offer the comprehensive Office Assistant class evenings at its South Campus during Spring Semester.

This 72-hour course will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the campus on N.C. 56 between Creedmoor and Butner. The class will start Jan. 12, 2004, and run through April 5.

The class covers the entire Microsoft Office suite of software, including Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint, as well as the features and commands used to combine and move work from one program to another. Additionally, a basic overview of Windows and Internet usage is offered, making this class ideal for someone who has no or little computer experience to get a solid foundation in the most popular computer programs in use today.

Normally, these topics are covered in individual classes so this comprehensive class offers an excellent value, said Ann Behar, VGCC Computer Center coordinator. Additionally, there will be practice time built into the class schedule to help those with limited access to a computer have time to practice with an instructor present.

Registration cost is $60, and the textbook is approximately $55. Call the South Campus at (919) 317-1658 or the Main Campus at (252) 738-3417 or 738-3437 to register and to get more information.

For students who do not have the time to commit to a long class, or just need instruction in a specific topic, the Computer Center will continue to offer its shorter courses in Introduction to Computers, Word Processing, Spreadsheets, electronic presentations, Web Page Design as well as several other topics. Courses are offered during the day, at night and on the weekends throughout the semester.  A complete list is available on the VGCC website at vgcc.springerstudios.net or call for a list or more detailed information at 252-738-3417.
