CNA Classes Offered at VGCC Warren Campus

Vance-Granville Community College will offer the Nurse Aide I (CNA I) course at the college’s Warren County Campus, with day and evening classes starting Feb. 11. Students may choose the daytime class, which will be held Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., or the night class, which will meet Monday through Thursday, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Day classes will end April 11, while evening classes will conclude on May 1.The Nurse Aide I program is designed to prepare students to become Certified Nursing Assistants. VGCC’s certification programs offer classroom education, laboratory training, and clinical experiences in local nursing homes and hospitals. Jobs for CNAs are available at nursing homes, physicians’ offices and other healthcare facilities.

According to Richard Cobb, a Louisburg-based accounts manager for Maxim Healthcare Services, the county with the greatest need for CNAs in the area is Warren County. Cobb said that his job is to hire nurses and nursing assistants throughout the area. He plans to be on hand when students register for the Nursing Assistant I course at Warren Campus, so that he can personally encourage students to complete the program and inform them that nurse aides are in high demand.

Registration will be held on Jan. 28 on the Warren campus, located at 210 West Ridgeway Street in Warrenton. To register for the course, a student should bring a Social Security card, a picture ID and a negative TB skin test result. There are no pre-requisites for this course.

The cost of the course is $95.
