Allen named VGCC Dean of Enrollment & Outreach

Jeffrey Allen has been named the dean of enrollment and outreach at Vance-Granville Community College. In the newly-established position, Allen (pictured above) will provide leadership for VGCC’s enrollment management functions, including recruitment, admissions , student activities and athletics . He will also continue to serve as the student Title IX coordinator for the college.

Allen has been a member of the VGCC staff since 2012, and most recently served as the college’s director of student activities and athletics. 

Allen, who lives in Henderson, is a former Granville County resident and J.F. Webb High School graduate. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics at North Carolina Central University and a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction at Western Governors University. Allen had a 14-year career in education at the K-12 level prior to joining VGCC. He has served as a math teacher for Vance County Schools, a math teacher and dean of students at New Century Charter High School in Chapel Hill, and a math teacher and assistant principal at Christian Faith Center Academy in Creedmoor.

Allen is the recipient of the 2016 Laura Thomas Award from the North Carolina Association on Higher Education and Disability (NC AHEAD).

“In his new role, Jeffrey will collaborate with all of our faculty and staff to recruit and enroll students and put them on a pathway to success,” VGCC Vice President of Employee and Public Relations Stacey Carter-Coley said. “We look forward to him leading our efforts to inspire and support new Vanguards who are joining our diverse community of learners.”
