Medical assistants are multi-skilled healthcare professionals who work in physicans’ offices, health maintenance organizations, health departments and hospitals. They perform administrative duties, including scheduling appointments, transcribing and maintaining medical records, and filing insurance claims. They also perform clinical procedures such as screening tests for patients, EKGs, administering medications, laboratory tests, assisting physicians with exams and surgery, and many others.

Certified Medical Assistants are in high demand in the healthcare field, according to Care.
