Warren Early College students introduced to VGCC

The Warren County Campus of Vance-Granville Community College welcomed a new class of Warren Early College High School students at a freshman orientation session on July 13. A highlight of the event was a panel discussion featuring, from left, Daniel Davis, a 2016 WECHS graduate; Olu Ariyo, VGCC’s program head for College Success & Study Skills; and Delton Farmer, a VGCC Business Administration instructor. Davis, a Norlina resident, graduated from VGCC with both an Associate in Arts degree and an Associate in Science degree in May and will soon begin his studies at East Carolina University.

WECHS students simultaneously earn both a high school diploma and a two-year college degree (or up to two years of college-transferable credit) tuition-free. They generally complete the program over five years, although in 2016, for the first time, several students graduated in just four years. VGCC fall classes begin on Aug. 15.
