VGCC to offer free workshop on succeeding in agriculture

The Vance-Granville Community College Small Business Center is inviting local farmers and budding entrepreneurs to a free “Lunch and Learn” entitled “Growing a Successful Agricultural Business,” on Thursday, February 25, from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m., in the Franklin County Cooperative Extension office (103 S. Bickett Blvd., Louisburg).

The instructor will be Russ Vollmer of Vollmer Farm in Bunn. While agriculture can be one of the most rewarding and satisfying ways to make a living, Vollmer will educate participants on the real-world issues of starting and running such a business, including paperwork, regulations and day-to-day farm operations.

Attendees will discover the essential dynamics of running a successful agricultural business and participate in a roundtable discussion about what North Carolina Cooperative Extension offers to help farmers succeed.

This is the first in a series of events made possible by a grant, entitled “Cultivating and Connecting Agricultural Communities,” awarded to VGCC as part of the Rural Community College Agricultural Cooperative Initiative, funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).

Lunch will be provided at no charge to attendees who register in advance. The deadline to register is Feb. 22.

Space is limited for this free event. Registration can be completed online at www.ncsbc.net/center.aspx?center=75530 .
