Self-empowerment workshop scheduled at VGCC on “owning your life”

Vance-Granville Community College will soon offer a one-day workshop for the first time entitled “Creating A Better Me: Owning Your Life.” The workshop is scheduled for Saturday, May 30, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. in room 7107 on the college’s Main Campus in Vance County.

Olivia Simons, a Raleigh-based life, executive and entrepreneurship coach from Skin Deep Coaching, will serve as the instructor. Simons has been a human resource development consultant, professional development trainer and frequent keynote speaker with more than 20 years of experience in the public and private sectors. She has successfully delivered over 1,200 workshops. Simons earned a bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Business Administration and Communications from Howard University.

In “Creating A Better Me: Owning Your Life,” Simons promises to “unleash the power that you have within you, so that you can be in the driver’s seat of your life.” She will discuss accepting personal responsibility and cultivating self-truth so that each participant can establish direction for his or her life.

Noted for her engaging speaking style and her empowering style of facilitation and coaching, Simons aims to coach clients to shift toward the possible and align with their greatest potential in business and in life. “Coaching with me is about stretching and becoming you as a leader, professional and person,” she said. “It's about living a whole, integrated, and out-loud-life.”

The cost of the workshop is $100. The deadline to register is May 25.
