Students invited to enter VGCC Library contest

In honor of National Library Week 2015 (April 12-18), Vance-Granville Community College is sponsoring a student contest, and the results should be delicious.

In the contest, VGCC students will suggest a meal (appetizer, entrée and dessert) using library culinary resources (online databases, cookbooks, etc.) as their inspiration. Students should email their entries to library@vgcc.edu and include their name, address and daytime phone number. Entries must be submitted by email by midnight on Monday, April 13. All entries will be placed in a random drawing.

The two winners of the drawing will meet Chef Ross Ragonese, head of the VGCC Culinary Arts program, and then enjoy lunch with a friend on Thursday, April 16, at the Vanguard Café. Lunches are prepared by VGCC Culinary students and served at the Masonic Home for Children in Oxford between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.

The winner will be notified on April 14. Any VGCC student may enter, except for Culinary students, as they are already working one-on-one with the chef.

For cookbook resources, go to http://site.ebrary.com/lib/vgcc/home.action and type “recipes” into the search engine, or visit the VGCC Library .

The main library is located in Building 2 on the college’s Main Campus in Vance County, but library services are also available at the satellite campuses and online at lrc.vgcc.edu .

About National Library Week

First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries across the country each April. It is a time to celebrate the contributions of our nation's libraries and librarians and to promote library use and support. All types of libraries – school, public, academic and special – participate. This year’s National Library Week theme is “Unlimited possibilities @ your library®."
