J.F. Webb star Tyrek Beverly joins VGCC basketball team

Tyrek Beverly of Oxford, a 2014 graduate of J.F. Webb High School, recently signed a letter of intent to join the men’s basketball team at Vance-Granville Community College. Beverly is pictured above (seated, right), signing his letter with his mother, Temeka Marable of Oxford, at his side. Standing in back is VGCC Vanguards head coach Michael Woody.

Beverly (6’4”), a new student in the College Transfer program at VGCC, is one of Webb High’s all-time leading scorers. A guard, he is one of only four players in his school’s history to score at least 1,000 points. Beverly was named to the All-Conference team twice. He was a member of the Warriors team that won the state championship in 2013, playing alongside current UNC Tar Heel Isaiah Hicks.
