VGCC Computer classes scheduled for July at Warren Campus

Vance-Granville Community College is currently registering students for two popular computer courses scheduled to be held during the evening at the Warren County Campus in Warrenton.

A course on the Microsoft Word and Excel 2010 software is scheduled for Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m., July 7 through July 30. Students will familiarize themselves with the popular word processing and spreadsheet programs, which were significantly updated in their most recent versions. Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel are two of the most widely used software programs in the workforce today. Knowledge of these programs is frequently listed as a requirement in job postings.

The “Beginner’s Guide to Computers & Internet/Windows 7” class is scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m., July 8 through July 31. Exploring the Windows 7 operating system, novice students will get an introduction to the common components and many uses of personal computers. Among the topics will be basic file management techniques, how to create, edit, and save a document, how to utilize built-in Windows accessories, and the process of moving and copying data. Students will also learn effective ways to make the most of the Internet in their daily lives through the use of common search tools.

Jessica Harvey, a Norlina resident and an instructor for VGCC’s Office Administration curriculum program, is set to teach both courses.

The cost of each course is $77. The deadline to register for both is July 1.

Prospective students can now register and pay for these courses online ( vgcc.springerstudios.net/oex ). They also have the option to register and pay for classes in person at any campus, Tuesday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
