VGCC hosts Cosmetology Competition April 1

The Vance-Granville Community College Cosmetology competition, an annual tradition generally involving only VGCC students, is expanding. At this year’s event, to be held Tuesday, April 1, Cosmetology students from Halifax Community College and Piedmont Community College have been invited to compete along with students from VGCC’s Main, South and Franklin County Campuses.

Student stylists will demonstrate their skills and creative flair in three categories: “Updo,” “Fantasy” and “April Fool’s.” The latter category will require students to use several “surprise” items in the hairstyle they create.

The public is invited to see a lively presentation of the students’ work and learn who will take home the prizes on April 1, starting at 11 a.m. Live entertainment will also be featured. Admission is free. The event takes place in the Civic Center on the college’s Main Campus in Vance County.

The VGCC Cosmetology department offers diploma and certificate programs in Cosmetology , Cosmetology Instructor and Manicuring/Nail Technology .
