VGCC schedules Summer Term New Student Orientation sessions

Orientation sessions start soon for new students at Vance-Granville Community College for the Summer Term, which begins on Tuesday, May 27. Attending an orientation session is required for all new students in any of the college’s curriculum programs , and for students who are returning to VGCC after being away for three or more years.

Orientation sessions are scheduled to be held in the Civic Center on VGCC’s Main Campus in Vance County on Thursday, March 20, at 5:30 p.m.; Wednesday, April 16, at 2 p.m.; Thursday, April 17, at 9 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.; and Tuesday, May 20, at 9 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

The Franklin County Campus near Louisburg will offer orientation sessions on Tuesday, March 18, at 3 p.m.; Tuesday, April 8, at 3 p.m.; and Wednesday, April 30, at 5 p.m.

Orientation sessions are scheduled at VGCC’s South Campus (between Creedmoor and Butner) on Wednesday, March 19, at 2 p.m.; Wednesday, April 9, at 5:30 p.m.; and Wednesday, May 7, at 10 a.m.

The Warren County Campus in Warrenton will hold orientation sessions on Tuesday, April 15, at 5:30 p.m. and Thursday, May 15, at 5:30 p.m.

At orientation sessions, new arrivals to VGCC will learn where to find campus resources, and how to access online resources including how to register for classes through WebAdvisor. Immediately following a general orientation session, each student will meet with an academic advisor and have the opportunity to pre-register for classes the same day. This year, VGCC is scheduling more orientation sessions with fewer student slots, so that each student may receive additional personal attention. Students must sign up for an orientation/advising session in advance by visiting orientation.vgcc.edu .

Registration for summer classes opens April 29 and continues through May 22. During the registration period, students can register directly after they are advised. Students may register in-person at any campus, or online through the WebAdvisor system. College officials advise new students to apply for admission, attend orientation and register for classes as early as possible. The summer course schedule is now available online at schedules.vgcc.edu .

Students may pay, verify payment or charge tuition and fees online through WebAdvisor (by Visa or MasterCard) or in person at the VGCC Business Office on Main Campus (or at the campus where they are enrolled) on the same days as registration. The Main Campus Business Office hours of operation during registration are 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Monday-Thursday, and 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Fridays.

The payment deadline is Thursday, May 22, by 5 p.m. if paying in person, or by midnight if paying through WebAdvisor.

During the summer term, many courses are offered on a self-supporting basis. Registration fees for self-supporting classes must be paid by all students. For more information, go to vgcc.springerstudios.net/Schedules/Self-Supporting-Classes.pdf .

Anyone with questions about registration at Vance-Granville should contact the college’s Main Campus at (252) 492-2061 or visit any of the other campuses for more information.
