VGCC schedules Doll Making and China Painting class

Area residents can get in touch with their creative side when Vance-Granville Community Colleges starts a Doll Making/China Painting class, scheduled for Sept. 12 through Oct. 31. Once again, longtime instructor Bertie Bumgarner will conduct the class, which will be held on Mondays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in room 5227 on the college’s main campus in Vance County.

Students can explore multiple arts during the course. Bumgarner has taught classes such as these at VGCC for more than 25 years, first teaching how to make dolls and later adding how to paint china and ceramic figures. Through china painting, students can transform ordinary dishes and other types of porcelain into beautifully hand-painted decorations for their homes or for gifts.

The cost of the course is $60.
