Nurse Aide I Class scheduled at VGCC Main Campus

Vance-Granville Community College is now registering students for an evening Nurse Aide I course, which is scheduled to start soon at the college’s main campus in Vance County. Classes will be held Monday through Friday, from 5:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m., May 23 through Aug. 10.

The Nurse Aide I program prepares students to become Certified Nursing Assistants and to take the state CNA certification exam. VGCC’s certification programs offer classroom education, laboratory training, and clinical experiences in local nursing facilities and hospitals. Jobs for CNAs are available at nursing homes, home health care agencies, physicians’ offices and other health-care facilities.

To register for the course, a student should bring a Social Security card, a picture ID and the results of a negative TB skin test.

The cost of the course is $175 plus $25 in fees and the cost of the textbook.

VGCC offers two levels of Nursing Assistant training as well as a Refresher course. For more information, call Occupational Healthcare Programs coordinator Alyssa Brodie at (252) 738-3366.
