VGCC offers Physical Therapy Aide training

Vance-Granville Community College will offer a course on the college’s main campus in Vance County that trains area residents to become Physical Therapy Aides. The course will be offered Monday and Wednesday mornings from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., April 18 through July 11. Classes will meet in room 7107 of Building 7.

Among VGCC’s newest offerings, the Physical Therapy Aide course provides an overview of the profession and covers key aspects of a career in physical therapy, such as physical therapy roles, practice setting, the American Physical Therapy Association, laws and policies, regulations and more. Physical therapy aides, under the supervision of a physical therapist or a physical therapy assistant, help make therapy sessions productive.

The instructor for the training is Julie V. Cooke of Norlina, who retired in 2009 as VGCC’s instructor and coordinator of Occupational Healthcare Programs.

The cost of the course includes a registration fee of $175, and a $3 campus access/security fee.
