Notary Public Course Set May 5-6 At VGCC

A course to prepare people to obtain a North Carolina commission as a notary public will be held at Vance-Granville Community College’s main campus in Henderson May 5-6.

The purpose of a notary is to prevent fraud and forgery. Students will learn what they may and may not do at a notary public. To qualify, a person must be at least 18, must be able to speak and write English, and must not have been convicted of a felony under state or federal law.

Charlene Spence of Warrenton will be the instructor for this course. Classes will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. in the Seminar Room (Room 9209) of the Civic Center building.

There is a registration fee of $50 required, plus the cost of the textbook. For more information and to pre-register, call the VGCC Small Business Center at (252) 738-3239 or 738-3240.
