VGCC Offers CDL Prep Course

If you’re planning to take the written Commercial Driver’s License exam, you’ll be interested in attending a course at Vance-Granville Community College to prepare you for the test.

The 21-hour course will be held from 5:30 to 9 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, beginning July 14 and concluding July 30. Robyn Fisher, who has taught the CDL course at Vance-Granville in the past, will be the instructor.

Persons who complete the course will be prepared to take the CDL written exam for vehicles as large as 18-wheelers and as small at 16-passenger vans, as well as any vehicle carrying hazardous materials, said Daniel W. Guin, VGCC dean of College Services. The N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles administers the exam.

After passing the written test, persons must get driving experience, usually with an employer, to qualify for an unrestricted CDL.

There is a $55 registration fee for the course, and students must purchase a textbook.

To register, call VGCC College Services at (252) 738-3239.
