CAROLINA SUNROCK ESTABLISHES VGCC SCHOLARSHIP

President Bryan Pfohl of Carolina Sunrock Corp., center, presents $3,000 to President Robert A. Miller of Vance-Granville Community College as the first installment toward establishing an Academic Achievement Scholarship at the college. Carolina Sunrock of Butner, which runs quarries and concrete and asphalt operations at Butner, Kittrell and other sites in the Research Triangle, will complete the $6,000 required to endow an Academic Achievement Scholarship, and a $500 grant will be given to a deserving student each fall. The truck in the background is loading concrete at Carolina Sunrock’s Butner site, which has been in operation 20 years. At right is Johnny Balmer of Oxford, human resources director at Carolina Sunrock and a 1990 Industrial Management graduate of Vance-Granville.
