VGCC Gives “More Bang For Buck” In Combined Computer Center Classes

Computer Center personnel at Vance-Granville Community College realize that economic times are difficult for many people in the college’s service area so they have combined several classes to provide more needed training for less money.

The first of these combined classes will teach Power Point and designing Web pages with Front Page, or two graphics components for the price of one, according to Computer Center instructor Laura Peace. The classes will begin May 21 and run four consecutive Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Computer Center of Building 6 on VGCC’s main campus.

Later this year, an Office Basics course will be offered that combines Word and Excel. These 24 hours of classroom training will begin July 10 and run on consecutive Thursdays from 6 to 10 p.m., also in the Computer Center.

Registration cost of each of the classes is $55, and Peace points out that registrants will basically be getting two classes for the price of one. A textbook will be available for purchase, but the college will furnish one for use in class if the student wishes, which represents another savings.
