VGCC Plans Law Enforcement Memorial

Ceremonies to honor fallen law enforcement officers will be held Friday, May 9, at Vance-Granville Community College.

The public is invited to attend the services on the VGCC campus at I-85 and Poplar Creek Road in Vance County that will begin at 9 a.m. at the flagpoles by Building 1.

Henderson Police Chief Glen Allen will be the featured speaker, and the HPD Honor Guard will present the colors. The names of all law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty in North Carolina since 2001 will be read, and a wreath will be laid at the flagpoles to honor their memory.

Vance-Granville’s Criminal Justice Club is sponsoring the memorial, and one of its members, Sonya Whitley, will sing, along with the Royalty singing group from Dabney Elementary School.
